Lighting studios are a very important part of preparing art for an exhibition. The material has its own unique properties. Peat reflects light very brightly. This makes it possible to achieve a very effective result. The processing of peat strongly influences the intensity of light reflection, as well as the perception of the shape and texture of the artwork.
Just like high-quality wine, peat is made for work in art and design. In order for the material to have the required processing properties, it must be dry and stable just like wood.
Cut a layer of peat in the bog and prepare it for drying on the field. The drying process takes at least 2 years. Peat requires a special drying cycle in the peat bog, barns and indoors.
In the peat library, the material is sorted according to the degree of drought. At present, peat blanks that have been stored for up to 12 years have been prepared in the workshop. This type of peat has acoustic properties - it sounds just like naturally dried wood. This fact inspired me to make a musical instrument from peat.
The first prototype - a peat-coated sheet material - was created in the Peat House workshop. This product will soon be distributed as a premium finishing material.
Like sheet materials covered with wood veneer, peat finishing materials can be used in carpentry, creating a wide range of products - furniture, doors, facades, floors, etc. Material, like wood, can be processed in the same way - varnished , polish, lubricate, tint, etc.
The wall panel shown in the picture was individually designed to decorate the walls of the cabinet. A total of 16 different panels were combined with a total area of 8 m2.
